Ingredients

  • 50 gms Rice

  • 1 Litre Milk

  • 1 Litre Water

  • 150 gms Sugar

  • 50 gms Condensed Milk

  • 50 gms Khoya

  • 2 drops Rose Essence

  • Pinch of Saffron

  • Dry Nuts (Cashew, Almonds, Pistachios) for garnish

Directions

  • Wash and soak rice for 20 minutes. Pound lightly.
  • Heat milk and water in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the soaked rice and cook on low heat until the rice is soft and fully cooked.
  • Add sugar and saffron. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring gently.
  • Mix in khoya and condensed milk. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
  • Finally, add rose essence and garnish with chopped dry nuts.
  • Serve warm or chilled as desired.

  • For an even richer flavor, you can add some more of rose water or a few drops of kewra essence. Adjust sugar to your taste preference. Kheer thickens as it cools – add a little warm milk if needed before serving.
